Abstract
This presentation will use raw data and case study examples to show how relationships between various types of geotechnical logs in multiple basins and formations can be linked to measured changes in stage phase production over time.
The demonstrations will include resistivity, gamma ray, and geomechanical logs evaluating multiple variables and impacts on production utilizing chemical tracer applications to measure individual stage production of single wells and multi-well pads in different basins.

From the President
Yulia Faulkner
Greetings DWLS members and families,
The Summer is officially over, welcome to the Fall, the change is in the air: cooler temperatures, beautiful colors, warmer clothes, cozy blankets, preparations for Halloween!
I am happy to announce that our first 2021/2022 In-Person Luncheon was a success! As expected, the attendance was on the low side, but the DWLS board was very happy to see the increased interest to be In-Person and welcome back many of you who attended. I am also thankful to our Speaker Dick Merkel for his outstanding presentation. Thank you all for your feedback and thanks to Wynkoop for continuing hosting DWLS events.
As we plan to keep October and November luncheons In-Person, please check out the DWLS website and mark your calendars for those luncheons of interest to you. We also would like your feedback on having a December holiday social event.
We are seeing a slight increase in activities and job openings in the O&G industry. We are happy to publish any job opportunities on the DWLS website if that helps folks to find work. DWLS is here to serve our members. I kindly ask you to send me suggestions on how we can increase the value of your membership, to my address: President@dwls.spwla.org.

From the VP - Technology
Jenny LaGesse
Thank you to Dick Merkel of Denver Petrophysics, and all our attendees for starting off our 2021-2022 season back at the Wynkoop. We’re continuing our speaker series on Tuesday, October 19, featuring Patrick Hayes of GeoStar with his talk “Taking the next informed step by correlating petrophysical logs, interpretation, and other available data with gas & fluid phase production to improve field development.” Tickets can be purchased online.
Please remember that in accordance with CDC guidelines for large groups, we ask that unvaccinated attendees wear a mask when not enjoying their lunch during our meetings and that if you feel unwell you do not attend. As the CDC suggests, we encourage but will not require all members regardless of vaccination status to wear masks to slow transmission, particularly during these upcoming winter months. (Considerations for Events and Gatherings | CDC)
We are looking for speakers! If you would like to be a speaker or have suggestions for luncheon topics, please send them along to: VP_Technology@dwls.spwla.org.
In the months to come our luncheons will feature:
- November 16: Robert “Chad” Hartman, Chief Technical Advisor, Stratum Reservoir will present: “Complications in Core Based OIP Determination When Evaluating Tight/Unconventional Reservoirs.”
- Gama Firdaus, CSM
- Patricia Rodrigues, SeisPetro and Strategic Decisions Group
Stay tuned for more details regarding scheduling.
We are calling for suggestions for the Spring 2022 workshop topic. If you have any requests, please send your thoughts to: VP_Technology@dwls.spwla.org.
