Abstract
An overview of SPE-209130-MS will be discussed, which outlines a new fracture diagnostic method for determining stimulation distribution effectiveness from well logging. This presentation will outline the fracturing water saturation method describing near wellbore fracture behavior and a case study comparison to fiber optic distributed acoustic sensing data. The case study to be presented is a follow up to a diagnostic project presented by Jessica Barhaug and thus has a comparison of the logging-based technique to the permanent fiber DAS results shown. As an update to the original paper, further case study results will be presented utilizing cased hole logs. This new cased hole method allows for efficient expansion of the open hole data to the entire PAD and also has application for evaluation of DUCs and refracs. A cement density evaluation method will also be described. Understanding hydraulic fracturing behavior is even more crucial in the unconventional plays as we continue to drill and complete infill wells. Efficient well logging with modern conveyance technology allows for economic evaluation of this fracture behavior as well as the subsurface characteristics which impact it.
Speaker Biography
Darby Witt is the completions technology specialist with Cordax Evaluation Technologies. In this role he supports the impact and investigation of the near wellbore region on hydraulic fracturing treatments. Witt is a hydraulic fracturing practitioner with a 26-year service company and technical consulting background. He has provided real-time fracture pressure monitoring, evaluation, design, and post-fracture appraisals with emphasis on enhanced reservoir description workflows, including core calibrated petrophysical, geomechanical, and geologic study integration. He is experienced in the field operations of unconventional and conventional onshore and offshore reservoirs worldwide. Witt has focused technical efforts on the description, evaluation, and economic optimization of hydraulic fracturing treatments and built several workflows and software plugins to support operator activity resulting in numerous commercial successes.

We had a great turn out at our February Lunch and Learn. Thank you to all that came out to listen to Patricia Rodrigues and bring your ideas and questions and thank you once again to SeisPetro for sponsoring the drinks!
This month we have Darby Witt (Cordax) come to us presenting: “Cluster Efficiency Logging (Before & After Fracturing) Cordax improvements in Completion Diagnostics”.
We will have our Spring workshop on April 4th with a great line up of speakers and topics around the topic of “Core-To-Log & Log-To-Core: The Evolution of Tying Two Dimensions Together”. Come and bring your ideas and challenges! Contribute to an “off record” workshop to share your ideas freely for maximum knowledge impact.
We will have a Happy Hour following our workshop at the bar across from the Mountaineering Center.
Our April Lunch and Learn speaker will be Bob Lieber (Corsair Petrophysics) presenting: “Rock Type Recognition Using Deterministic Methodologies for the Cordell Sandstone of the DJ Basin”.
May we will have our Social event instead of the L&L as in June the international SPWLA symposium will be in Conroe, TX.
See you all at any or all of these events of knowledge sharing!
